What To Expect

Consulting a therapist for the first time can be a nerve-racking prospect if you're unsure of what takes place or you suffer from strong anxiety or social anxiety. For this reason I wanted to make a page that guides you through what to do and what to expect when you arrive at the business centre so you feel more at ease.

When you arrive at The Orchard Street Business Centre (you can find the address and a map here) the first thing you need to do is locate the reception. The business centre is spread over seven converted Georgian Houses in the heart of Bristol. The reception can be found at no. 13 - 14. If you press the buzzer and say you have an appointment with Seb, the reception staff will let you in. Just walk forward to the reception and take a seat and I will come to welcome you. The reception staff won't ask the reason for your appointment.

From there we will head over to my office for your free initial consultation. In the initial consultation we will sit and have a tea or coffee and discuss your case in privacy and comfort. Once you've filled me in with regards to what you'd like help with we will complete a questionnaire together. The questionnaire simply gives me as much information as I need to be able to assess if I'm the best person to help you. Everything in your initial consultation is confidential and nothing goes on permanent or public record.

If I feel I can help you we will discuss the different therapy options available to you so that you can make an informed decision. You are then free to book your first appointment or go away to consider your options and get back to me at a later date. The initial consultation is free of charge with no obligation to undergo treatment. It usually lasts around one hour, but may be slightly longer or shorter depending on the circumstance.

You are welcome to come along with a supportive friend or family member should you so require. They are free to wait in reception while we have the initial consultation or they may join you in the consultation. Please be aware however that they will be politely requested to leave while we undertake the questionnaire. This is so that you can answer the questions openly and freely.

Rest assured that I don't wear a white coat or anything like that, nor do I carry a pocket watch to hypnotise you. I do however make every effort to put you at ease and make your experience both rewarding and uplifting.

The decision I made to work on my issues with Seb is perhaps the best and most important decision that I've made in my life to date. That might sound dramatic but after completing my therapy journey with him, I find that I am a very different, more focused, more honest and more positive version of myself. I am truly proud of what I have achieved and I couldn't have done it without Seb. I would absolutely recommend Seb to anyone who wants to deal with any issue that they have - he is warm, engaging, enthusiastic, genuine and above all, very easy to confide in. I will never look back and the future is bright.
