online therapy

Resolve symptoms and problems wherever you are

For the first time in 30 years, since my symptoms first developed, I can honestly say that I am now free of my debilitating symptoms and their related disorders. Thanks to Seb and his incredible Sequential Psychotherapy I was able to develop an understanding of why I felt, thought, and behaved the way I did. We met weekly on Skype and very quickly developed an excellent working relationship that enabled me to fearlessly explore absolutely everything that had been fuelling my symptoms all these years. He is very personable and really makes one feel at ease. I cannot recommend Seb highly enough.

WHAT IS ONLINE THERAPY?

DOWNLOADTHE FREE WELCOME PACK HERE! For your privacy, no email registration required!Therapy sessions by Skype or FaceTime are a convenient alternative to in-person treatment. Skype therapy, as it's sometimes commonly called, is especially useful for people who are restricted by time, location, or family commitments, or who have symptoms or medical conditions that restrict their movements.

Skype therapy is also a convenient way of working if you have a particularly busy schedule. If you haven't experienced online therapy sessions you may be unsure if it's the right way to go. To help, I offer a free initial consultation so that you can 'test the waters'. Every client I've worked with so far over Skype has found it a convenient, comfortable, and effective way of working. The bonus of not having added travel expenses, time, and parking fees - not to mention finding parking! - can make Skype an appealing way of working for many people.

IS ONLINE THERAPY AS EFFECTIVE AS FACE-TO-FACE THERAPY?

Occasionally people worry that Skype-based therapies won't be as effective as in-person treatment. However a 2010 study in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry (Vol. 71, No. 7) concluded that anger management therapy, conducted over video-conferencing software, was just as effective as the face-to-face treatment. A 2008 meta-analysis in the Journal of Technology in Human Services (Vol. 26, No. 2) stated that "The findings of this meta-analysis...provide strong support for the adoption of online psychological interventions as a legitimate therapeutic activity". Similarly, a systematic review in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (Vol. 14, No. 4) stated that results "indicate that e-therapy seems to be at least equivalent to face-to-face therapy".

I'M WORRIED IT WON'T FEEL THE SAME AS BEING THERE WITH YOU?

Sometimes people worry that doing therapy sessions online just won't feel right. This is perfectly understandable as it's a fairly new way of doing things. However every single person I've worked with so far on Skype or FaceTime has found it a great way of doing therapy, even after some initial concern. It's like most things in life. Once you get over the 'newness' of it you soon forget about it and it just feels normal. In the end you reap the benefits of being able to quickly connect with me from the comfort of your sofa or home office without having to spend time on traveling around!

DO YOU WORK WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE UK?

Absolutely! I not only work with people from London to Leeds, Scotland to Ireland. I regularly connect with people around the world, from America to the Czech Republic, Italy to Australia. The main thing is finding a time that works well for us both given the occasional difference in time-zones. Other than that it's no different.

WHAT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO DO THE SESSIONS?

  • A decent broadband connection
  • Either Skype or FaceTime (These can be downloaded by clicking on the names)
  • A desk-top, laptop, iPad, or similar device. (Smart-phones are o.k. but perhaps a little small and difficult to hold for an hour)
  • A PayPal account
  • Some space and privacy to talk freely

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED? WHAT WILL IT COST?

The number of sessions required is dependent on what you need to work through and the type of therapy we will be doing. For various reason I don't offer hypnotherapy over Skype, however cognitive therapy, coherence therapy, counselling, and a modified version of analytical hypnotherapy can all be done very successfully over the Internet. Sessions are charged at the usual rate of £70 per session, or £90 for a limited evening slot. Find out more about session fees and the practical stuff you might need to know.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
