Unlike Clinical Hypnotherapy, in which the therapeutic emphasis is on the effect of post hypnotic suggestions issued by the therapist, Analytical Hypnotherapy involves an exploration of potential unconscious emotional conflicts that may be driving your symptoms. Analytical Hypnotherapy is a non-directive process in which symptom generating conflicts are allowed to safely surface so that they can be successfully and permanently resolved.
In the sessions you are gently induced into a light relaxing hypnosis whereupon you freely associate experiences from your life. The process of free-association often leads to a surprising and liberating insight into the unresolved conflicting life experiences that led to the development of your symptoms. By working together to create a relationship of safety and trust you are able to go progressively deeper into the problem until it is fully resolved.
Analytical Hypnotherapy is only useful in a certain number of situations and one of the potential downsides of this type of therapy is that neither client nor therapist know from the outset if there are any unconscious emotional conflicts to be resolved. For this reason it is best thought of as a process of exploration as the results are not necessarily as guaranteed as they are in other forms of therapy. In the right situation however Analytical Hypnotherapy can be a profoundly life-changing process.
A testimonial from a happy Analytical Hypnotherapy client:
Having suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) for most of my life and not receiving great results from medication, I decided to give The Bristol Psychotherapy & Hypnotherapy Clinic a try. Seb, who runs the clinic, is a very amiable and approachable man, put me at ease straight away. We decided on a way forward and I soon had the answers that I needed to beat this terrible illness.
I couldn’t praise Seb highly enough, his professionalism and dedication were second to none. I have my life back, thank you Seb, from me & my family.
